Kids Activities In London

  1. The Making of Harry Potter: From Warner Bros. Studios, this award winning tour will astound and amaze children and grown-ups alike! The tour features film sets including Platform 9 ¾, the Forbidden Forest and the Great Hall. You’ll also see authentic props from the Memory Cabinet and the Potions Classroom, plus original costumes with visits to the special effects unit, creature effects and the art department. Book this one well in advance.
  2. The Natural History Museum: If you’re planning to visit any museum with kids, the Natural Museum in South Kensington it the one. Their famous dinosaurs will have the children speechless (or cheering!) plus the exhibits on wildlife, oceans and space are equally inspiring. Best of all, they offer activities developed just for children including “Stomping Like a Dinosaur”, quake in your boots to feel the vibrations of an earthquake, visits to the creepy crawly world of insects and many more.
  3. Hampton Court Palace: Part of Historic Royal Palaces, once home to Henry VIII, Hampton Court Palace is the perfect day out of the city. The entire family will enjoy exploring the palace with its Great Hall, famous Tudor kitchens, the Haunted Gallery and many more rooms open to the public. Kids will get a special thrill when they explore the oldest garden maze in Britain (1700), come face to face with mythical beasts in the Magic Garden complete with bridges, turrets and towers! Plus kids get to dress up in capes and cloaks to enhance their visit.
  4. Shrek’s Adventure London: In the heart of London, is one of the most popular kids parks, Shrek’s Adventure London. A fully immersive experience (see, hear touch and…smell!), this fairytale adventure brings kids up close with Princess Fiona, Donkey and of course Shrek! There are like shows, the Flying Magic bus, even the Poison Apple Pub!
  5. The Tower of London: Another member of Historic Royal Palaces, the Tower of London offers much more than the Crown Jewels. Children will love exploring the grounds, hearing the stories of the Tower from a Yeoman Warder, meet the famous ravens and walk the gardens of the London Moat. Make sure to ask for a “Family Trails” map, specifically designed to keep the kids happy.
  6. Thames Rocket River Cruise: Sure, you can always take a quite, leisurely cruise on the Thames and they’re great. But the real excitement on the river is with Thames Rocket speedboats! Offering a number of cruises to choose from, they offer just about anything you can think of. From their Ultimate London Adventure to the Rocket Revolution which includes a ride on the London Eye, these tours get the adrenaline and excitement flowing.
  7. Peter Harrison Planetarium Greenwich: This is London’s only planetarium and it’s one of the best in the world. Embark on an amazing journey across the night sky in a state of the art auditorium. There are different shows daily, plus special shows just for kids. And after your visit, explore beautiful Greenwich including a visit to Cutty Sark, the last remaining 19th century clipper and beautiful Greenwich Park.
  8. London Scavenger Hunt: One of our favorite companies offers incredible adventure programs in London (and across Europe). In London, the scavenger hunt is one of the best. Discover some of the London’s main attractions while you and the kids are immersed in an entertaining and educational game. You’ll even get a polaroid camera to take photos of your clues and at the end, you get your own personal photo album!
  9. The Puppet Theater Barge: Since 1978, The Puppet Theater Barge has been offering visitors one of the most truly unique experiences in the country, marionette theater. From the moment you step onboard, you know you’re in for a treat. This intimate space (only 50 people at a time) allows you to travel back in time to an authentic and exciting experience you’ll remember for a lifetime.
  10. Afternoon Tea at Fortnum & Mason:  There’s nothing quite as wonderful as Afternoon Tea in London. And there’s no place better than the legendary and historic Fortnum & Mason. For more than a century, Fortnum & Mason has been “the” place for afternoon tea. Make sure to book ahead and plan to spend time exploring the store. While they offer a wonderful children’s menu, this would be an experience for older, more mature children.
