Where Every Bite Tells a Story
Patisseries and Bakeries in London
- The Connaught Patisserie by Nicolas Rouzaud: Located in the heart of Mayfair (at the famous Connaught Hotel), Executive Pastery Chef Nicolas Rouzaud and his team have created what is among the finest patisseries in the world. From their signature Connaught Hound (in chocolate hazelnut) to Paris Brest, St. Honore, Blackcurrant Cheesecake, scones, madeleines, and croissants, a visit here is a must for anyone visiting London.
- Bread Ahead: Whenever Richard arrives in London, his tradition is to make his first stop at Bread Ahead on Pavilion Road for a cappuccino and specialty donut. In addition to their famous donuts, Matthew Jones and his team craft freshly baked breads, cakes, sandwiches and pizza. Something for everyone!
- Fortitude Bakehouse: The gem of Bloomsbury, it’s hard to find another bakery with such an inventive and delicious menu. If you’re looking for unique bakes, how about Moroccan seaside beignets with cardamon syrup and orange cream? Raspberry and rosewater Mont. St. Michel? Or maybe you fancy a danish with custard, frangipane, rhubarb compote and strawberry cream? If so, make your way fast – because these beauties sell out quickly!
- Buns from Home: Steps away from one of our favorite hotels in the city, the Broadwick Soho , is one of the most exciting bakeries in London. Buns from Home handmakes their buns from croissant dough with plenty of real, fresh butter. What started with one location has now spread across the city where you can pick up treats like chocolate & hazelnut, tiramisu, dulce de leche, pistachio and many more delicious choices.
- Princi: With locations around the world, Princi brings Italy to the world, and London is no exception. From a simple and elegant cornetto their Sicilian cannoli and lemon meringue sponge cake (they also have a delicious food menu), it’s one of our go to places for an espresso and sweet in the heart of Soho.
- Kova Patisserie Soho: A fusion of Japanese and French baking styles, Kova specializes in creating the most incredible crepe cakes. Dozens of layers of thin crepes are filled with your choice of chocolate, vanilla, earl grey or matcha, for a mouth watering treat. They also offer one of the best strawberry shortcake in the city. And let’s not forget their famous bubble teas! While our favorite location is Soho, you can find Kova in South Kensington, Chinatown and Battersea.
- Toklas Bakery: You may have been to, or heard about the renowned Toklas Restaurant, but not everyone knows Toklas Bakery just next door. Here you’ll find an array of beautiful baked breads, traditional classics like a custard tart, marmalade stuffed croissants and our favorite, fresh tahini cookies.
- Violet Cakes: Located in East London, this American style bakery is owned by Claire Ptak who bakes with an all organic and fresh ingredients philosophy. Some Claire’s most popular items include cinnamon buns (a personal favorite), flourless chocolate cake, oatmeal cookies and molasses cake. Oh, and if her baking doesn’t speak for itself, Harry & Meghan asked Claire to bake their wedding cake!
- Ottolenghi: If you love cakes, patisserie, and sweets, you probably know Ottolenghi. Famous the world over for masterful creations, it’s hard to know where to begin and what to taste first. So, to help you along, in the spirit of hard work, we made several visits so we could at the very least, point you in the right direction. Our faves include cranberry and hibiscus marshmallows, cinnamon brioche pretzels, orange chiffon cake and what are probably the world’s best, biggest, and most delicious meringues (flavor availability varies depending on the day, but come on, they’re awesome!)
- Royal Artisan Bakery: In a town where the word “royal” tends to be overused, in this case, it aptly describes the quality of their baking. Baked fresh nightly, this artisan bakery, close to St. James’ Park serves up some of the best bakes (with lots of vegan options) in London. Our team taste tested the vegan berry danish and brownie royale. We then forced ourselves to try a nonvegan option, a salted peanut butter brownie. Which was the best? Please, make a visit and let us know!

HONORARY MENTION
Donutelier: London’s boutique donut store located at Charing Cross, takes the classic donut to the next level. Much like a fashion atelier, the donut boutique is a workshop, home to intricately crafting each and every one of their designs, combining traditional pastry with a modern twist on classic French patisserie.
