Europe Travel Guide bliss list
London
- Flute Bar: London’s newest – and most exciting rooftop bar – also happens to be located at the city’s newest and chicest boutique hotel, Broadwick Soho. An impeccably designed interior perfectly complements the outdoor terrace that offers birds eye views of Soho and the skyline. And of course, the cocktails! Make sure to call ahead and make a reservation.
- Word on the Water: Booklovers (and others!) rejoice! One of the most interesting places to visit in London, Word on the Water is a floating bookstore. Built on a 1920s barge and located at King’s Cross at Granary Square, a visit to “The London Book Barge” is not to be missed. And if books aren’t your thing, fear not! They offer music, poetry readings and more. And, your friendly dogs are welcome.
- The Connaught Bar: Located in the iconic hotel of the same name, this is “the” place for cocktails. Many places claim to make the best this, or the best that, but The Connaught Bar pours what is simply the best martini in the city. Sit back in a luxurious setting, sip away and enjoy. And if time permits, visit The Connaught Patisserie where world famous Executive Pastry Chef, Nicholas Rouzaud creates incredible and delicious pastries.
- Westminster Abbey: A visit to the abbey is probably already on your list. However, do you know the best way to experience the abbey isn’t with a tour. Instead of being part of a group pushing through, attend Sunday Mass at 1100AM. The full choir is present and you’re allowed to sit in a part of the church normally off limits to visitors.
- James Smith & Sons: Part of the London scene since 18130, James Smith & Sons has been London’go to address for umbrellas, canes and walking sticks. From the moment you arrive to their shop at 53 New Oxford Street, you’ll feel as if you’re time traveling. The exterior of the shop is from another era and when you step inside, well, let’s just say you won’t believe your eyes!
- Go Boat London: Sure, you can take a cruise on the Thames, and they’re great. But for the more independent minded (with a spark of adventure) check out GoBoat Sailing from several locations in the city including Paddington, Canary Wharf and Kensington, GoBoat offers a fully electric boat that’s perfect for romantic moments, get together with friends and family and it’s a truly unique way to see the city.
- Tendril Kitchen: Billed as “A (mostly) vegan kitchen and bar” Tendrill chef Rishim Sachdeva pushes the boundaries of plant based dining to new directions. You’ll want to make a reservation to ensure your table. But you’re always welcome to pop in for a drink (vegan wine!).
- Tite Street: When it was first laid out in 1877, Tite Street immediately became the heart of artistic London. Perfectly located in Chelsea, between King’s Road and Chelsea Embankment, a stroll here brings you past the former homes of Oscar Wilde (No. 34), John Singer Sargent (No. 31) James McNeil Whistler (No. 33) Nelson Shanks (Princess Diana posed for him in 1994 – also No. 33), Frank Miles (No. 44), Mick Jagger (No. 48), Romaine Brooks (No. 50) and well, you get the idea!
- Piccolo Bar: In the heart of elegant Sloane Street stands one of London’s hidden gems. More straight forward than it’s fancy neighbors, Piccolo has great food, amazing prices and the best full English breakfast in town. It’s small inside, with just a few seats outside, so ou may have to queue up but it’s worth it. And it’s ideal for a takeaway meal to enjoy in one of the nearby squares and gardens.
- Mercato Mayfair: Housed in St. Mark’s Church built, built in 1825, Mercato Mayfair now features two floors of global dining, a rooftop terrace, and a wine cellar! It’s a hub for sustainable food where vendors are committed to using fresh and sustainable ingredients. The space also offers a number of small artisan stalls, making a visit here all the more interesting.
